Sale of a Lifetime
The photo above of the full moon over my Alma Mater, St. Ignatius, is the most valuable picture I’ve ever taken. In fact, I’d say it’s as valuable as any photograph ever taken. “That’s crazy!” you’re thinking, right? Well, hear me out and maybe you’ll change your mind.
In September 2007, I was one of the Emerging Artists at the Tremont Arts & Cultural Festival selling my photographs. A young lady was checking out my photos (while I was checking her out). She asked me about the photo, thinking it was a church, and I told her, “It’s actually a high school.” We had a pleasat conversation and I kept thinking, “I really like this girl, I should ask her out.” Well, she had to run, I didn’t ask her out, and she didn’t even buy the photo. Bummer.
A short time later I saw her walking toward my booth and thought, “Hey hey, her she comes again, I gotta get her phone number.” This time she bought the photo and I got her email address. After exchanging a couple of emails, we started going out, fell in love, got married and had a beautiful baby boy.
So, how do you put a price on that? That simple photo up there is responsible for my wonderful family. Can’t get any more valuable than that I say.
